Dr. Pound was born in Linton, Indiana. He graduated from Indiana State University and earned his Medical Degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his internship, residency, and Gastroenterology Fellowship at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis. Dr. Pound is board certified in Gastroenterology and is a member of:

- American College of Gastroenterology
- American College of Physicians
Dr. Pound was Assistant Professor of Medicine at Indiana University Medical Center from 1987-1993 before joining IG&H in September of 1993. He is still a Clinical Professor of Medicine at IUMC and continues teaching medical students since joining IG&H. Dr. Pound’s area of expertise is hepatology and he has participated in a variety of clinical research investigations including treatments for chronic hepatitis C and pharmacokinetics of medications in patients with liver disease. He is presently President of the Indianapolis Gastroenterology Research Foundation. Dr. Pound is also an active supporter of his patients through the Hepatitis C Support Group “The ARK” (Always Reflecting Kindness).
A very important aspect of Dr. Pound’s life is his involvement in medical mission work. He serves as a director and medical advisor for Lifeline Christian Mission which provides care in Haiti and Honduras and he is also chairman of FAME (Fellowship of Associates for Medical Evangelism) which supports clinics and hospitals around the world. For many years, he has been leading teams to Haiti for short term missions.
Dr. Pound is married and has two children.
