Dr. Mahoney was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Indiana University and earned his Medical Degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his internship, residency, and Gastroenterology Fellowship at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis. Dr. Mahoney is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He is a member of:

His areas of special interest are inflammatory bowel disease and Barrett’s esophagus (or gastrosophageal reflux disease).
Dr. Mahoney is an avid train enthusiast. He is married and has four children and one grandchild.
Dr. Mahoney joined IG&H in July of 1980.
