Dr. Michael F. Elmore
Dr. Elmore was born in Buffalo, New York and became a Hoosier in 1959 when his parents moved to Indiana. He graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington and then spent the next nine years of his life at the Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis completing medical school, internship and residency in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology Fellowship. He is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.

He entered private practice with Dr. James D. Rogge in 1977 and is now the senior partner and the immediate Past President and CEO of Indianapolis Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

  • Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology
  • Fellow of the American College of Nutrition
  • Member of the Indiana State Medical Association and the Indianapolis Medical Society
  • Member of the International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders
  • Belongs to the Christian Medical Foundation and received the Epharim McDowell Award, presented at the annual meeting in Tampa, FL, October 1990

Dr. Elmore's research interests include functional bowel disorders, specifically, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Working with the Indianapolis Gastroenterology Research Foundation, he was a principle investigator for 7 (seven) Lotronex (alosetron) and several Zelnorm (tegaserod) research studies.


Recently Dr. Elmore has implemented three new programs:

  1. Enterra Gastric Electric Stimulation for patients with gastroparesis (paralysis of the stomach) who are refractory to standard medical therapy.
  2. Endoscopic Plication for patients with GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease).
  3. Halo 360 Radiofrequency Ablation for Barrett's esophagus.

Dr. Elmore has been married for over thirty years. He and his wife have three children.
